Our story

Cookware with no coating to wear off

OREVIA started with a simple question: what is really in the pan we cook in every day? We are an Indian cookware brand, and our answer is bare metal.

Why we started

The pan is part of the meal

Most of us think about what goes into the food. Very few of us think about what the food sits on while it cooks. In a lot of Indian homes today, that is a non-stick pan, because it is easy to use and easy to wash.

These pans work because of a synthetic coating. A coating is a thin layer, and a thin layer does not last forever. Our cooking is hard on it too. We fry, we make tadka in hot oil, we scrape the kadhai with a steel spoon, and we do it every single day.

We started OREVIA with one belief: an Indian kitchen should be able to cook on pans with nothing synthetic on the surface. Everything else follows from that. You can see the research behind it.

If the surface is just metal, there is no coating to scratch, flake or overheat. The idea behind every OREVIA pan

Built for a real kitchen

Removing the coating is only half the job. A pan also has to handle a high flame, a heavy spoon and daily use. So we gave the shape of every piece as much thought as the metal.

  • Handles you can hold. Many of our pans have silicone grips or insulated handles, and the deeper kadhais have two handles.
  • Shapes we actually cook with. Roti tawas, dosa tawas, deep kadhais and pots with lids, in sizes that suit a home stove.
  • Metal that holds heat. Cast iron is 4 to 5 mm thick, and triply and sheet iron are 2.5 mm, so the pan stays hot and evenly warm.
  • Gas or induction. Triply, non-coated iron and our flat-base cast iron pieces all work on induction as well as gas. Roti tawas are the exception.
  • Easy to look after. Our triply cookware is dishwasher safe, and the iron has a simple care routine.
How a product gets decided

We start with what is already in your kitchen

Every OREVIA product begins with a piece of cookware people already use, and four simple steps.

01

Look

We study how the existing piece is built and how it behaves on a real Indian stove.

02

Keep

If the material and build already suit the job, we leave them alone.

03

Change

If the metal, weight or handle is wrong for Indian heat and daily use, we change it.

04

Check

Nothing goes into production until we are happy with the answers.
